The City of Yonkers and the @crestwoodcommunityfund exemplified the model private-public partnership, joining forces to rebuild the playground at Schultz Park in honor of Annie McMahon and Allie Sullivan. We extend our gratitude to the committed Crestwood Community Fund Executive Board, led by Kristen McDermott and Rebecca Kerrigan who presented a $420,000 check to the city of Yonkers, adding to the city’s existing investment of $800,000.

With construction scheduled for the upcoming fall, this park will serve as a lasting tribute, preserving the legacies of Allie Sullivan and Annie McMahon while providing a beloved gathering place for families in the neighborhood, especially the Sullivan and McMahon families.

When going to City Hall to pay your taxes or file for a permit, calling 911 in an emergency or taking your child to any of the three wonderful buildings in the Yonkers Library system it is likely that the employee that helped you was a member of the Service Employees International Union Local 704. These employees are the life blood of many City Departments and I’m honored to have their endorsement to be re-elected to the Yonkers City Council.

I am so honored to announce that the Affiliated Police Associations of Westchester has endorsed my candidacy for re-election to the Yonkers City Council. The APA is made up of more than 50 law enforcement organizations and it is because of them that the City of Yonkers and
Westchester County is a safe place to raise our families. I always have, and always will, back the hardworking men and women of law enforcement.

Since Friday, May 12th, the City of Yonkers has made repeated attempts to obtain information from New York City Mayor Eric Adams in relation to the migrants possibly being sent to Yonkers. Unfortunately, all of those calls went unanswered and the failed policies of President Biden, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Mayor Adams has made it to Yonkers.

On Monday, May 15th, 14 families of migrants (38 individuals) arrived in our City with nothing more than the clothes on their backs to be housed in a Yonkers hotel paid for with some of the over $1 billion Mayor Adams received to care for the migrants his city received. These funds were NOT given to Mayor Adams to export the migrants to neighboring cities. I am calling on every level of government who authorized sending the migrants to Yonkers be responsible for the full expense of them being here. That would include any housing, education, medical and any other unforeseen expenses incurred.

The process must begin now to return the migrants to NYC. The cost of them being here cannot be borne by the Yonkers taxpayer.

I am, and have always been, a proud and unequivocal supporter of law enforcement. That is why it means so much to me to receive the endorsement of the Yonkers Police Benevolent Association and the Captains, Lieutenants and Sergeants Association. Those two groups make up the men and women of the finest police department in the country and I am humbled that they chose to endorse my re-election to the Yonkers City Council.

I am excited to kick off National Police Week in Yonkers, where the Yonkers Police Department will be participating from May 15th to May 21st. This week was established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, and pays special recognition to the brave law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, while protecting and serving their communities.

President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week in which it falls as National Police Week. As we pay tribute to these heroes, I also want to thank the Yonkers Police Department for their tireless dedication to keeping our community safe. I am grateful for their service and proud to support them.
